Parents are the first of all instructors to a child. Not only that, they are equally great moral and spiritual teachers for the children. The children learn social norms, values and important life skills from their parents. Parental support is all about the well-being of children and young people. “Parental support is a key dimension of effective parenting incorporating constructs such as nurturing, attachment, acceptance, cohesion and love (Jacob & Leonard, 1994)”. Children who receive support from their parents develop an appropriate mindset, motivation, and self-discipline at school and society.
Research shows that parental involvement in education leads to greater student achievement and increased confidence. What you say and do in your daily lives can help your children to develop positive attitudes and might as well build confidence in them as learners.
Taking responsibility and working independently are important qualities for a good life. You can help your child to develop these characteristics by establishing reasonable rules that you enforce consistently, making it clear to your child that the child himself/herself has to take responsibility for what he/she does both at home and at school.
If the child has the support of parents then the child can easily solve any problem and can face every challenge of life. Be that parent, your child runs to tell, on facing any scenario; not the one the child hides it from.
