Anger is a negative emotion understood by antagonism or opposition towards someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong or arose an unfavourable condition in your life. It is yet another emotion to express negativity that one might be experiencing or holding on to, within oneself. Anger is a natural emotion, though sometimes it may be unpredictable, unwanted or irrational emotion for a particular scenario, that everybody experiences and showcases from time to time in their daily life. Anger experts have also described this emotion as a natural emotion, primarily too; which has evolved as a way of protecting yourself and surviving from what is considered to be pulling one down. But excessive anger can cause problems. The four general types of anger expression are:
- Aggressive.
- Passive.
- Assertive.
- Suppressive
When a person experiences physical or emotional distress, the emotion of anger strongly motivates him/her to do something about it. As such, anger helps you cope with the stress arising due to any reason, by first discharging the tension in the body in order to calm the “nerves”. This is the very reason why a person may have an angry reaction and then feel calm thereafter. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems in any or all spheres of life— at work, personal relationships, especially in the overall quality of life.
Controlling Anger in the Moment is one most recommended tool for anybody who wants to take care about their expression of this emotion. Taking a break as soon as one realises their anger rising or developing within. A break can be taken in any way, suitable for the individual, for instance; by stopping whatever he/she is doing at present, getting away from whatever is bothering, and/or just taking a breather.
Getting away from whatever is upsetting you or not contributing to your emotional well-being will make it infinitely easier to calm down
