In today's fast-paced competitive world, learning techniques play an effective role in one's life. Some commonly used techniques such as underlining, reading material and using devices, word found to be of surprisingly low utility. Other learning techniques such as taking practice tests and spreading studying sessions out over time, known as distributed practice, were found to be of high utility because they benefited students of varying age groups and ability levels and enhanced performance in many areas.
Learning techniques are the most effective for improving learning outcomes. Although, there are many reasons why students struggle in school but these learning techniques when used properly, should help provide meaningful gains in performance or learning, achievement of test scores, and many other tasks a student would encounter.
Learning techniques like; distributed practice, practice testing, interleaved practice, self-explanation etc. are the steps taken by people to enhance their learning.
Practice tests requiring better responses like short & simple answers or recalling are more effective than long answers or fill in the blanks. Self-explanation means students communicating in their words and to themselves or gathering new information to old or pre-existing information. Distributed practice is a learning technique that involves gap & space between each session. Interleaved practice is practice in which mixes different kinds of problems in a single study.
All these learning techniques could be understood as the handy tools for students of all ages, which could be used to enhance their performance at learning.
